Setting a price of almost 300 dollars for a USED book that can be obtained at numerous bookstores, to include Barnes and Noble, just because it is unavailable new from Amazon.com is highway robbery. I noticed this when I was searching online for this book, and shopping around for the best price, and noticed the set price for it used. One seller is even offering it for over 2000 dollars. For a used book with MEDIOCRE designs? Are you kidding me? It can also be purchased from Canada and from the UK for under 20 dollars American. I think it is horrible business practice, and a shame that sellers would try to gouge customers like this.
Okay, I’ve looked at everything in this book, and I have to say that 95% of these designs are just god-awful. There are a few that are well done (Shane O’Neill has some great work) but overall this book is a waste of time. As a tattoo artist, I found the majority of the work sub-par. If anyone came into my tattoo shop with something out of this book, I would have to totally re-design the tattoo in order to make it presentable to the public (which defeats the purpose of a “sourcebook”). I am appalled that most of these artists even put their names next to designs of this caliber.
The only redeeming point of this atrocity is the information about tattooing (history of , aftercare, etc.)in the introduction, but is only for the tattoo novice.
Stay away, for the love of god!
